Lithuania pledges €1 million to EU programme supporting Ukraine’s reconstruction
Lithuania will allocate €1 million to a European Commission-backed programme aimed at supporting Ukraine’s recovery and reconstruction efforts, the government announced on July 9.
The funding, approved by a cabinet resolution prepared by the Foreign Ministry, will come from Lithuania’s national budget and contribute to the EU4Reconstruction initiative — a €37.5 million programme co-financed by the European Commission and implemented by Denmark, Germany, France, and Lithuania, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
Running from 2025 to 2027, the EU4Reconstruction programme focuses on strengthening institutional capacities and aligning Ukraine’s reconstruction efforts with European standards.
As part of its role, Lithuania will work alongside Denmark to help transform Ukraine’s State Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development into a more efficient, EU-aligned institution capable of managing large-scale reconstruction projects and future EU funding.
The programme includes five key components: enhancing the Ministry for Development of Communities and Territories, empowering local authorities, reforming the restoration agency, updating construction standards, and increasing civil society involvement in the rebuilding process.
