JD Vance says he expects to travel to Switzerland for Iran talks soon
U.S. Vice President JD Vance has said he expects to travel to Switzerland in the coming days for talks related to Iran, according to remarks made in a Fox News interview on June 20.
“I expect that I will leave sometime in the next couple of days, but you know it’s always a delicate coordination dance and the diplomatic protocols,” Vance said.
He was responding to a question about whether he would take part in consultations alongside U.S. President’s Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and businessman Jared Kushner, the U.S. president’s son-in-law.
Vance did not confirm the final composition of the delegation but indicated that preparations for the trip were underway.
Separately, he addressed reports concerning maritime tensions in the Middle East, stating that the United States does not see evidence of a disruption to a key global shipping route.
After Iran’s military claimed it had again blocked the Strait of Hormuz following Israeli strikes in Lebanon, Vance told Fox News there is “no evidence” that the waterway is closed.
