France records about 7,000 excess deaths during summer heatwaves

French Health Minister Stephanie Rist says around 7,000 excess deaths were recorded during the heatwaves that affected France this summer up to late July.

Rist said on September 4 that the final figures would be available in the coming weeks, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.

France's health agency previously estimated that 5,764 excess deaths occurred between June 17 and July 2 during a period of extreme heat.
