Netanyahu issues warning of possible attack ahead of October vote

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned that Israel’s enemies could attempt to carry out an attack ahead of the country’s October 27 election.

“There are signs that ahead of the elections our enemies will try to attack us,” Netanyahu said in a video statement recorded at the Tel Nof Air Base, south of Tel Aviv. He did not identify those who might be behind a potential attack or provide details of the intelligence behind the warning.

“Don't mess with us. Our long arm will reach you anywhere and at any time,” he warned.

Netanyahu is campaigning for re-election ahead of the October 27 vote. He said Israel was continuing military operations on several fronts, including in Gaza and Lebanon, and claimed that more than 100 “terrorists” had been killed in Gaza in recent weeks.

Meanwhile, two Palestinians were killed on September 29 in an Israeli strike targeting an apartment in the Al-Nasr neighborhood of western Gaza City, according to Palestinian sources.

Eyewitnesses and Palestinian sources said an Israeli aircraft fired several missiles at the apartment, destroying the building and setting it ablaze. Gaza’s civil defence service said its crews extinguished the fire, while ambulances transported the two deceased people and several injured individuals to the Al-Shifa Medical Complex.

The Hamas-run Government Media Office in Gaza accused Israel of “evading” its obligations under the ceasefire between Hamas and Israel.

In a statement, the office said the “Israeli occupation has demonstrated its evasion of obligations under the agreement” and continued actions that have worsened the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.

According to Gaza-based health authorities, Israeli attacks have killed 1,422 people since the ceasefire took effect in October 2025, bringing the overall death toll since October 7, 2023, to 74,023.
