Trump shares Witkoff article on peace efforts in the South Caucasus

US President Donald Trump has shared on Truth Social an article by his special envoy Steve Witkoff, published by The Washington Examiner, highlighting US-led peace efforts between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

In the article, titled “How Trump turned a frozen conflict into a model for peace”, Witkoff said generations of diplomats had regarded the decades-long conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia as insoluble.

“That ended when President Donald Trump returned to office,” he wrote.

Witkoff said the two countries had reached a Joint Declaration of Peace a year ago, describing the agreement as an achievement that ended more than 35 years of bloodshed.

He attributed the development to what he called President Trump’s “bold, visionary leadership”, describing the outcome as “nothing short of remarkable”.
