Czech Republic tightens security after suspected sabotage incidents in Europe

04 September 2026 12:41

The Czech Republic has strengthened security measures following a series of incidents in neighbouring countries, particularly Germany, that authorities say could be linked to sabotage and the activities of foreign actors.

Czech Interior Minister Lubomír Metnar announced the measures on X, saying authorities were closely monitoring developments in neighbouring European countries, Caliber.Az reports.

Czech media reported that security had been increased at airports and railway stations across the country.

“Our law enforcement and intelligence agencies are in close contact with our European partners. Currently, the Czech Republic remains at terrorism threat level ‘B,’ and the security situation remains stable,” Metnar said.

The Czech government has not indicated that the country itself faces an imminent attack. Officials said the enhanced security measures are precautionary and are intended to ensure a rapid response should the regional security situation deteriorate.
