Armenian Speaker: Four Gazakh villages belong to Azerbaijan

Armenian National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan has reiterated Armenia's position on the status of four villages in Azerbaijan's Gazakh region, firmly stating, "this is Azerbaijan."

Addressing the ongoing dispute over four villages in Azerbaijan's Gazakh region, Simonyan reaffirmed Armenia's unwavering commitment to its territorial integrity, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.

“There is not a single village in the Republic of Armenia that could be handed over to anyone. The Republic of Armenia can show its territory meter by meter on maps of all years, from the creation of Soviet Armenia to the independence of Armenia. We are now looking for those people who consider this the territory of Armenia. We are looking for those people who will come and prove that this is Armenia,” Simonyan stressed.

Simonyan emphasized that residents of Tavush, situated near the border zone, are well-acquainted with the defined border. He described how, on frequent trips to neighbouring Georgia, Armenian travellers regularly encountered the border, confidently identifying it as Azerbaijani territory.

“When we all go out on September 21 and celebrate the Independence Day of the Republic of Armenia, are we celebrating something specific or not? Of course, something specific. The Republic of Armenia knows the location of this particular border, the residents of Tavush living there know this. All the authorities of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, Robert Kocharyan knew this, and we all always saw this road, this piece of land when we drove to Georgia and even stopped, pointed and said: this is Azerbaijan.

Rejecting any notion of territorial negotiation, Simonyan asserted, "we're not talking about anything new. The Republic of Armenia does not subject any part of its territory to trade."
