Another suspect detained for alleged complicity in Moscow terrorist attack

In a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the tragic terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall, another suspect has been detained for suspected complicity in the heinous act.

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation (ICR) has announced plans to formally arrest the suspect, shedding further light on the intricate web of individuals potentially involved in the attack.

The detained individual is believed to have played a role in a terrorist financing scheme linked to the attack, Interfax reports, citing the ICR.

In a statement released on the department’s telegram channel, the ICR declared its intention to petition the court for the imposition of preventive measures, specifically detention, against the suspect.

“The investigation will petition the court to select a preventive measure in the form of detention in relation to him,” stated the message from the Investigative Committee.

The terrorist attack, which unfolded at the Crocus City Hall concert hall in Krasnogorsk near Moscow on the evening of March 22, sent shockwaves through the nation. Gunmen opened fire on concertgoers and ignited a fire, resulting in a devastating loss of life and numerous injuries. The latest figures indicate that 143 people lost their lives, with over 180 others sustaining injuries in the attack.

The Investigative Committee has initiated proceedings under Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, treating the incident as a terrorist attack and leaving no stone unturned in the pursuit of justice for the victims and their families.

In the aftermath of the attack, the Kremlin press service revealed that 11 suspects, including the four terrorists directly involved in the assault, had been apprehended. The Basmanny Court of Moscow, acting on a decision made on March 24, ordered the arrest of these individuals.

Following the court’s decision, three additional defendants in the case were placed under arrest on March 25 at the behest of the investigation.
