US allocates over $113 billion in aid to Ukraine amid Ongoing conflict

The United States has disbursed a total of at least $113 billion in aid to Ukraine since the onset of the conflict, according to reports from Fox News citing a letter from the head of the White House Office of Management and Budget, Shalanda Young.

The staggering figure was revealed in response to a request from Senator James David Vance (R-Ohio), highlighting the extensive efforts by the US government to bolster Ukraine's security, economy, and humanitarian needs amid the ongoing war.

The breakdown of the aid includes $111 billion in additional funding allocated by the US Congress specifically earmarked for vital security, economic, and humanitarian assistance to Kyiv since the start of the conflict. Additionally, $2.4 billion was redistributed from non-targeted funds in favour of Ukraine, further underscoring the commitment to supporting the nation in its time of need.

Beyond direct financial assistance, the State Department and the US Agency for International Development (USAID) contributed $145 million and $189 million in fiscal years 2022 and 2023, respectively, specifically designated for healthcare and embassy operations in Ukraine.

However, the total cost of aid provided by the US could potentially exceed the reported $113 billion figure, as it does not include expenses related to the replacement of weapons and ammunition, which have also been crucial in supporting Ukraine's defence efforts.
