Finland plans to build explosives factory

    WORLD  05 May 2024 - 17:04

Finland is proposing to work with NATO allies to build an explosives factory in the country.

Defense Minister Antti Häkkänen told Finnish media on Sunday that "decisions should be made now so that in a year or two production can be launched," Interfax writes.

He emphasized that this is a cooperation project with other allied countries, and the issue will be discussed in close dialogue with the Nordic states.

According to the minister, the TNT plant would fit in well with Finland's rapidly growing military industry. No decisions have yet been made on where the plant will eventually be built. "The study is ongoing and the aim is to draw conclusions during the spring," Häkkänen said.
