Russia sells luxury housing at up to 40% discount

Managing partner of Intermark Real Estate in-town sales department Dmitriy Khalin has said that luxury homeowners in Russia rushed to sell their property at big discounts after the mobilisation that started in the country on September 21.

The discount in this real estate segment reaches 40 per cent, Gazeta.Ru quotes Khalin as saying on September 30.

"For some lots, there were requests to set a discount both in a symbolic amount of 3-4 per cent and in a rather big amount of 30-40 per cent for a quick sale," he said.

The real estate owners decided to sell about a quarter of Intermark Real Estate houses, he added.

Chairperson of the board of directors in BEST-Novostroy company Irina Dobrokhotova explained this trend by citizens' anxiety due to mobilisation.

"This behaviour is typical for stressful situations, however, in most cases, either the owners of low-liquid assets or those who hastily leave the country and are ready to lose money during the sale of assets, offer big discounts," Dobrokhotova added.
