    CHRONICLE  25 April 2024 - 17:05

On April 25, Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Sadyr Zhaparov, President of the Kyrgyz Republic, visited the devastated areas of the city of Fuzuli and examined the city’s master plan, Azertag reports.

Emin Huseynov, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Aghdam, Fuzuli, and Khojavand districts, briefed President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov on the destruction and acts of vandalism perpetrated by Armenia during its occupation of Fuzuli district over three decades. President Sadyr Zhaparov was informed that the ruins of the destroyed buildings would be preserved in the future Fuzuli Memorial Complex. Museums of Occupation and Victory will also be established within the complex.

The heads of state were then updated on the progress and future developments outlined in the master plan of Fuzuli.

According to the master plan, the city’s administrative area is projected to cover 1943 hectares, with a population expected to reach 50,000 people by 2040. A “smart city” concept has been proposed to enhance traditional networks and services through digital solutions, contributing to the city’s sustainable development and the well-being of businessmen and its residents. To provide comfortable and modern living conditions, the plan includes the construction of medium and low-rise residential buildings, individual houses with courtyard areas, educational, healthcare, cultural, and industrial facilities, as well as recreational areas. Three residential complexes are currently under construction, comprising a total of 2,462 apartments designed to meet modern urban standards. The city will also feature a 22.5-hectare Central Park and the 180-bed Fuzuli District Central Hospital.

Then the presidents made a trip to the city of Aghdam, where they were briefed on the city's master plan.

The Azerbaijani government is rebuilding Aghdam, a city entirely destroyed by Armenian armed forces. The new city is under construction with a focus on modern urban planning solutions. The restoration plan for Aghdam also considers the city's tourism potential, with the development of corresponding infrastructure. To this end, the "Agdam City Hotel" and "Hilton Garden Inn" projects are underway. The city will also feature a complex of Occupation and Victory museums. This complex will start with the Occupation Museum and end with the Victory Museum, with a Memorial Garden in between. The site will retain some of the original ruins to preserve historical context, serving as a witness to Armenian vandalism and occupation history, thus ensuring that Aghdam's 30-year tragic story is not forgotten by future generations.

Moreover, a 960-seat secondary education school will be constructed in the city centre, and the Mugham Center will consist of single-story and double-storey blocks.

A 5-hectare area has been allocated for Central Park, which is divided into four zones to provide various facilities for visitors to enjoy their leisure time.

Later, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov completed his state visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan.

A guard of honour was lined up for the Kyrgyz President at Fuzuli International Airport decorated with the national flags of the two countries.

President Sadyr Zhaparov was seen off by Azerbaijan`s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov, Special Representative of the President Emin Huseynov and other officials.
