Azerbaijani president calls for shared expertise to combat cancer across Turkic states
President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan has sent a message to the participants of the First Congress of Oncologists of the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS), highlighting the nation’s significant strides in healthcare and stressing the vital role of regional collaboration in the fight against cancer.
Aliyev emphasized the importance of shared expertise and innovation to advance oncology treatment across the Turkic world, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
“Today, Azerbaijan's healthcare system is equipped with a robust material and technical infrastructure, as well as a highly qualified workforce, providing broad opportunities for the application of modern diagnostic and treatment methods. Projects and state programs aimed at the rapid advancement of various fields of healthcare are being consistently implemented across the country,” President Aliyev said in his message.
The president conveyed his profound satisfaction with Baku serving as the venue for the congress, characterizing it as a “special recognition of the successful progress and achievements of Azerbaijan’s oncology services over the past years.” He commended the event’s emphasis on pressing health challenges that are progressively impacting populations on a global scale.
Highlighting the role of the Organisation of Turkic States, President Aliyev pointed to the alliance’s dedication to fostering cooperation among member states. He stressed that this collaborative spirit “underscores the importance of jointly benefiting from accumulated expertise and strengthening collective efforts in addressing common challenges.”
Looking ahead, he welcomed the congress’ agenda of exchanging knowledge and innovations. “In this context, the wide-ranging discussions and in-depth exchanges based on the latest innovations in medical science - set to take place at the Congress with the participation of leading experts from around the world - are commendable for addressing many of the key issues confronting the healthcare institutions of the member states of the Organization of Turkic States.”
Concluding his message, President Aliyev expressed confidence in the congress’ impact: “I believe that your Congress, with its scientific and practical significance, will contribute to the further enhancement of current treatment methods and will help define key priorities for future collaboration among oncologists across the Turkic world.”
