President Aliyev frames Azerbaijan–Turkmenistan partnership as growing transport axis
President Ilham Aliyev highlighted the strategic depth of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, particularly in the fields of transport and logistics, underscoring its long-term and wider regional significance.
Speaking at a press conference with Turkmenistan’s President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the Azerbaijani leader pointed to the growing importance of Azerbaijan–Turkmenistan connectivity corridors, Caliber.Az reports, citing state media.
“Today, much was also said about transport and logistics. Cooperation in this area between our countries is already of a long-term nature — I would even say strategic — not only for us and our neighbors, but also for a much wider geography,” Aliyev stated.
He further emphasised the value of secure and reliable connectivity between partner states, noting its global importance.
“There are not many reliable and secure transport routes in the world today that connect cooperating countries. This is a great achievement,” the head of state added.
Beyond economic and infrastructure ties, President Aliyev also underlined Azerbaijan’s consistent political support for Turkmenistan, particularly its foreign policy course.
“As your friends and brothers, we always rejoice in your successes, including on the international arena, and we have always supported and will continue to support Turkmenistan’s policy of neutrality, which has already gained broad international recognition and support,” President Ilham Aliyev noted.
