Azerbaijani president receives Tajik prime minister, discusses Middle Corridor and trade PHOTO

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev received Tajik Prime Minister Qohir Rasulzoda in Baku on September 25, with the sides discussing transport, logistics, trade, energy, agriculture and tourism.

During the meeting, Aliyev described Azerbaijan and Tajikistan as friendly and brotherly countries, saying there were significant opportunities to further develop bilateral cooperation. He highlighted the importance of reciprocal high-level visits in strengthening ties between the two countries, Caliber.Az reports, citing state media.

Aliyev said Rasulzoda’s visit provided an opportunity to discuss the expansion of trade turnover and mutual economic activity, as well as transport and logistics cooperation.

Rasulzoda conveyed greetings and best wishes from Tajik President Emomali Rahmon to Aliyev. He said Dushanbe highly values its relations of friendship and strategic partnership with Baku and noted that bilateral cooperation had entered a new stage, referring to the Declaration on Strategic Partnership signed by the two countries’ presidents in Baku in 2024.

The Tajik prime minister also highlighted Aliyev’s personal contribution to the development of bilateral relations and expressed interest in applying Azerbaijan’s ASAN Service model in Tajikistan.

The sides discussed the transit of Tajik goods through Azerbaijan to international markets via the Middle Corridor, as well as cooperation in metallurgy, energy and agriculture.

They also stressed the historical and cultural ties between the two peoples and the importance of regularly holding cultural, humanitarian and sporting events.

Rasulzoda thanked Azerbaijan for allocating university admission quotas for Tajik students.

The sides further discussed tourism and passenger transportation, highlighting the importance of a direct flight between Baku and Dushanbe. They also welcomed growth in tourism and passenger traffic and discussed measures to promote the tourism potential of both countries.

The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on bilateral relations and other issues of mutual interest.
