Azerbaijani president, Ski Federation chief eye winter sports cooperation PHOTO

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with International Ski and Snowboard Federation President Alexander Ospelt on September 26 to discuss cooperation in winter sports and tourism.

During the meeting, the sides noted Azerbaijan’s experience in hosting prestigious international sporting events, including winter sports competitions, and highlighted the high-level organisation of Formula 1 races in Baku, Caliber.Az reports per state media. 

They also discussed Azerbaijan’s modern winter-skiing infrastructure and noted that the Shahdag Tourism Centre will host a number of prestigious competitions under the auspices of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation.

The meeting highlighted the role of a partnership agreement signed last year between Azerbaijan’s State Tourism Agency and the International Ski and Snowboard Federation in developing the country’s potential in winter tourism and sports.

The sides also discussed prospects for further cooperation between Azerbaijan and the federation.
