Aliyev, FIA President highlight Formula 1’s role in promoting Azerbaijan’s tourism PHOTO

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev met with the President of the International Automobile Federation (FIA), Mohammed Ben Sulayem, in Baku on September 26, the Azerbaijani presidential press service has reported.

During the meeting, the sides noted that Formula 1 races in Baku had once again been organised successfully, maintaining the high standards associated with the annual event.

They highlighted the importance of the races in promoting Azerbaijan’s tourism potential and increasing the country’s international visibility as a destination for major sporting events.

The meeting also focused on cooperation between the FIA and the Azerbaijan Automobile Federation, as well as local motorsport clubs. The sides praised the existing cooperation and discussed prospects for further partnership.

Azerbaijan has hosted the Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku since 2016, with the race becoming a regular fixture on the Formula 1 calendar.
