Azerbaijani president, Neuberger Berman CEO discuss investment cooperation
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev met with George Walker, chairman and CEO of global investment firm Neuberger Berman, in Baku on September 25 to discuss investment cooperation and potential new projects.
The two sides also discussed opportunities in global investment markets and ways to expand their long-term partnership, Caliber.Az reports, citing state media.
During the meeting, President Aliyev recalled his meeting with Walker in New York last year. He also highlighted the signing in February of the Strategic Partnership Charter between the Government of Azerbaijan and the Government of the United States, describing the agreement as opening a new chapter in bilateral relations.
The meeting also focused on cooperation between Neuberger Berman and Azerbaijan’s State Oil Fund (SOFAZ), which has been ongoing since 2016.
The sides reviewed the results of their cooperation and discussed potential new investment projects involving private equity, private debt and other investment areas under the SOFAZ-Neuberger Berman partnership.
Founded in New York in 1939, Neuberger Berman is an independent global investment management firm. The company manages approximately $613 billion in assets and more than $170 billion in investment commitments through its global private markets platform, according to the information provided by the Azerbaijani side.
