Independence Day fireworks trigger fire on Brooklyn Bridge in New York

A fire broke out on the Brooklyn Bridge during an Independence Day fireworks display in New York City, US.

According to the New York Post, platforms installed for launching fireworks caught fire. The bridge itself was not damaged and remains safe for traffic.

Videos shared by eyewitnesses showed smoke rising from one section of the bridge while fireworks continued to explode nearby.

All fire hotspots were extinguished within about a minute by two fire crews responding to the scene.
