Heavy rain triggers flooding, traffic disruptions in Istanbul VIDEO
Heavy rainfall swept across Istanbul on July 4, causing flooding on several streets, disrupting traffic and affecting daily life across Türkiye's largest city.
The downpour began after warnings were issued by the city's Natural Disasters Coordination Centre (AKOM), with temperatures dropping to around 27°C as stormy weather moved into the area, Caliber.Az reports per Turkish media.
Flooded roads led to traffic congestion in several districts, while market vendors saw their stalls inundated by rising water.
The severe weather also disrupted parts of the city's infrastructure, creating difficulties for residents and businesses.
Meteorological authorities said rainfall, which has intensified into heavy downpours in some areas, is expected to continue across Istanbul until the evening.
Authorities have urged residents to remain cautious as wet weather continues and the risk of localised flooding persists.
