Media: Pashinyan warns governors of responsibility for local election results

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has warned governors and regional representatives of the ruling Civil Contract party that they will be personally held responsible if the candidates they put forward lose in the upcoming municipal elections in November, Iravunk newspaper reports.

Against this backdrop, another Armenian news outlet, Zhoghovurd, writes that the ruling faction has already chosen the candidate who will head the party’s electoral list in the Abovyan mayoral election.

According to the publication, the candidate is Hovhannes Abrahamyan, head of the Hrazdan Forestry branch of Armenia’s Hayantar state forestry organisation. He spoke at a meeting of the party’s governing board the previous day, where his nomination was discussed.
