Kazakhstan keen to build joint investment platform with Germany
Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has proposed establishing a Kazakhstan-Germany investment and financial platform to facilitate joint projects and attract European capital.
Tokayev made the proposal during a meeting with the heads of leading German business associations and financial institutions as part of his official visit to Germany, Caliber.Az reports, citing Kazakh media.
He said the platform would combine German and European capital with Kazakh co-financing, state guarantees and risk-sharing mechanisms, with the Baiterek holding company tasked with structuring investment projects.
Tokayev said Kazakhstan welcomes the involvement of German export credit agencies and investment insurers, highlighting cooperation with Euler Hermes.
The president noted that Kazakhstan has developed an advanced digital and financial ecosystem over the past decade. Last year, the country’s development institutions provided $20 billion in support to the economy.
He added that, with the support of German financial institutions, the Development Bank of Kazakhstan had raised more than $1.2 billion from Deutsche Bank, Helaba, LBBW, Commerzbank, KfW and other institutions to finance projects in industry, energy and transport infrastructure.
Tokayev identified critical raw materials, energy and industrial modernization, renewable energy and green hydrogen, digital technologies, and artificial intelligence as key areas for expanding bilateral cooperation.
