Reuters: Putin envoy holds talks with US officials on Ukraine war
Russian President Vladimir Putin’s envoy Kirill Dmitriev held “constructive” talks with US officials on efforts to end the war in Ukraine, including possible US-Russia energy initiatives in the post-war period, Reuers reports, citing a US official.
The report said Dmitriev, who also heads Russia’s sovereign wealth fund RDIF, visited Washington on September 28 following a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in New York last week.
During their meeting, Zelenskyy stated that they had discussed a potential ceasefire covering energy-related targets.
Earlier this month, Trump’s envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner met with Putin in Moscow.
Dmitriev was in Washington “to continue constructive discussions on a peaceful resolution to the Russia-Ukraine conflict and possible U.S.-Russia energy initiatives after the war ends,” the US official noted.
