Iranian court orders US to pay $48 billion over Soleimani killing

An Iranian court has ordered the United States government to pay $48 billion in damages over the killing of Qassem Soleimani, judiciary spokesman Ali Kazemi said, adding that the ruling has entered the enforcement stage.

Kazemi said 73 people are being pursued in connection with the case, Iran International reports.

Soleimani, who commanded the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Quds Force, was killed in a US drone strike in Iraq in January 2020.

“This case is being pursued seriously, both in its civil and criminal aspects, to reach a conclusion,” Kazemi said.
