Azerbaijani president, Italian minister discuss expansion of energy ties in Mingachevir meeting PHOTO / UPDATED
On June 24, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received a delegation from Italy headed by Adolfo Urso, Minister for Enterprises and Made in Italy, during a visit to Mingachevir.
President Aliyev expressed his gratitude to Minister Urso for attending the inauguration ceremony of the “8 November” power plant and voiced confidence in the continued development of joint projects in the future, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
In turn, Minister Urso described Italy’s involvement in the construction of the power plant as a testament to the strong friendship and effective cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting underscored the strategic nature of Azerbaijan-Italy relations and highlighted the high level of political dialogue between the two nations. Both sides emphasised the importance of high-level visits in further strengthening bilateral ties.
Discussions also covered the role of the Intergovernmental Commission and the prospects for expanding cooperation in a range of areas, including energy—particularly renewable energy—metallurgy, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, science, education, and culture.
The sides also noted the participation of Italian companies in reconstruction efforts across Azerbaijan’s liberated territories and reviewed potential collaboration between Azərenerji and the Italian company Ansaldo.
