President Aliyev welcomes Sudan’s new envoy, reaffirms strong bilateral ties PHOTO
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received the credentials of Anas Eltayeb Elgailani Mustafa, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of the Sudan, on June 27.
Following the official presentation of his credentials to the head of state, Ambassador Mustafa engaged in a conversation with President Ilham Aliyev, Caliber.Az reports, citing domestic media.
During the meeting, President Aliyev underscored the mutual support that Azerbaijan and Sudan have consistently extended to one another in matters of territorial integrity and sovereignty. He also emphasised the effective cooperation between the two countries within the frameworks of the United Nations (UN), the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Non-Aligned Movement, and other international institutions.
The Azerbaijani leader warmly recalled his meetings with Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan Abdelrahman Al-Burhan, President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council of Sudan, held on the sidelines of the Non-Aligned Movement Summit in Baku and the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, where bilateral ties were substantively discussed.
Ambassador Anas Eltayeb Elgailani Mustafa conveyed the greetings of President Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan Abdelrahman Al-Burhan to President Ilham Aliyev.
Expressing appreciation for the gesture, President Aliyev asked the ambassador to extend his sincere greetings to President Al-Burhan.
The Sudanese envoy expressed gratitude for Azerbaijan’s steadfast support for Sudan’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and political unity. He informed the Azerbaijani leader that Sudan had established a dedicated working group tasked with advancing bilateral relations, in accordance with the directions issued by the heads of state of both nations.
Ambassador Mustafa also thanked Azerbaijan for the educational scholarships granted to Sudanese students and requested an increase in the number of available scholarships.
