President Aliyev attends opening of construction materials plant in Goranboy PHOTO
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the inauguration ceremony of the “Konstralab Industries” CJSC construction materials production facility in the village of Gazanbulag, Goranboy district.
The newly launched enterprise will manufacture gypsum plasterboards, as well as base and finishing gypsum products, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
The plant is expected to produce 10 million square meters of plasterboard sheets and 150,000 tons of gypsum-based dry mixes annually. The facility is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and aims to supply both the domestic market and foreign partners through exports.
Employing 200 people on a permanent basis, the plant represents a major industrial development in the region. The primary raw material – gypsum stone – will be locally sourced from various regions of Azerbaijan, ensuring cost-efficiency and sustainability.
Looking ahead, the company plans to install production lines for calcite and perlite, further diversifying its output and optimizing expenses. Additionally, “Konstralab Industries” intends to launch metal profile production as part of its future expansion strategy.
The total investment in the plant amounts to 33 million manats ($19.4 million). The project was supported by a 3.9 million manat ($2.3 million) concessional loan provided by the Azerbaijan Business Development Fund. Moreover, the enterprise benefited from customs concessions worth 900,000 manats (roughly $530,000) on imported equipment, facilitated by an investment promotion certificate from the Ministry of Economy.
The plant spans 5 hectares and marks a significant milestone in the country’s efforts to boost local industrial production and support economic diversification.
