Polish lawmaker calls Ursula von der Leyen witch, “Reichsführer”
Polish Member of the European Parliament Grzegorz Braun referred to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen as a “witch” and “Madame Reichsführer," highest rank in Nazi Germany, during a speech.
Grzegorz Braun's remarks, aired on the YouTube channel of the Polish party Confederation of Freedom and Independence, included his claim that von der Leyen imagines herself a rain-maker and that her decarbonisation agenda is supposedly capable of altering Europe’s climate and temperature, Caliber.Az reports.
He claimed that the EC president poses a danger to the public and suggested she should be sent to a madhouse. His microphone was cut off immediately after these statements.
Grzegorz Braun is a Polish far-right politician and filmmaker known for his nationalist and conservative-Catholic positions.
He served in the Polish Sejm before becoming a Member of the European Parliament in 2024 for the Confederation of the Polish Crown.
In the European Parliament, Braun has been linked to the Committee on Foreign Affairs and delegations focused on EU relations with Russia and Montenegro.
He is often involved in controversies, including remarks described as antisemitic or extremist, and in 2025 the European Parliament lifted his immunity amid ongoing investigations.
