Azerbaijani president, Slovak deputy PM discuss expanding defence industry ties PHOTO
On November 7, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received a delegation from the Slovak Republic led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Robert Kaliňák.
Robert Kaliňák congratulated President Aliyev on the fifth anniversary of Victory in the Patriotic War and expressed gratitude for the invitation to the military parade to be held on this occasion in Baku, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
He also conveyed greetings from the Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico to the Azerbaijani head of state.
President Aliyev thanked him for the greetings and asked that his own best wishes be conveyed to the Slovak Prime Minister. The Azerbaijani leader expressed appreciation for the participation of the Slovak delegation in the military parade dedicated to the fifth anniversary of Victory in the Patriotic War.
The Slovak Deputy Prime Minister congratulated President Aliyev on the progress achieved in normalising relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia and advancing the peace agenda reached in Washington.
In response, President Aliyev underscored the historical significance of the documents signed with the participation of the President of the United States to promote peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia, noting their importance in ensuring lasting stability in the South Caucasus.
Robert Kaliňák noted that Slovakia looks forward to a future visit by President Aliyev.
The sides described Azerbaijan-Slovakia ties as a strategic partnership based on mutual understanding and support, while highlighting opportunities to expand cooperation in various fields, including the military and defence industries.
They also exchanged views on Slovakia’s support for the development of Azerbaijan’s relations with the European Union and NATO.
