Azerbaijani president receives ADB delegation to discuss joint development projects PHOTO
On November 14, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev received a delegation led by Masato Kanda, President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
According to Caliber.Az, the information was published on the official website of the Azerbaijani head of state.
The meeting highlighted the fruitful cooperation between Azerbaijan and ADB, noting the successful implementation of joint projects. It was emphasised that from 1999 to the present, the ADB has provided Azerbaijan with financial support totalling USD 5.5 billion for projects in the transport, water supply, energy, finance, education, healthcare, and other sectors.
The bank’s successful collaboration with Azerbaijan’s private sector was also noted. In this context, joint projects in the oil and gas sector, electricity, road and rail transport, agriculture, water supply, and other areas were discussed.
During the discussion, it was stated that the progress achieved in Washington on the peaceful agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia opens significant opportunities to expand the region’s transport and transit potential.
The importance of communications along the Central Asia–Azerbaijan–Europe route was highlighted. In addition, new joint projects were discussed, including cooperation in railway transport, the expansion of the metro network, and the water supply sector.
