Azerbaijan, Arab financial institutions discuss joint projects in Karabakh PHOTO

On November 5, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received a delegation comprising the heads of member institutions of the Arab Coordination Group.

The delegation included Chairman of the Islamic Development Bank Group Muhammed Sulaiman Al Jasser, President of the OPEC Fund Abdulhamid Alkhalifa, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Abu Dhabi Exports Office (ADEX) Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi, Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi Fund for Development Sultan Abdulrahman Al Marshad, and Acting Director General of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development Waleed Al Bahar, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

The head of state highly appreciated the intention of the Arab Coordination Group member institutions to support projects related to the development of social infrastructure in Azerbaijan, especially at this time when the country is carrying out large-scale reconstruction and construction work in Karabakh and East Zangazur. President Ilham Aliyev emphasised that all these efforts contribute to expanding the relations of brotherhood and friendship between the peoples of the countries represented by these financial institutions and Azerbaijan.

The President noted that the main infrastructure projects in Azerbaijan have already been completed, state programmes are being implemented in the areas of water, transport, and other sectors, and new state programmes will be adopted in various directions in the future.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Chairman of the Islamic Development Bank Group Muhammed Sulaiman Al Jasser expressed gratitude to the head of state for the meeting and said he was pleased to visit the liberated territories of Karabakh and Shusha, noting that the work carried out there left a deep impression.

During the meeting, the sides emphasised the successful and productive cooperation between Azerbaijan and the member institutions of the Arab Coordination Group. They also discussed the favourable investment and business environment created in Azerbaijan and exchanged views on the prospects of cooperation, including the implementation of joint projects.
