President Aliyev hails Bulgaria’s role in Black Sea economic cooperation framework During meeting with Speaker Kiselova / PHOTO
On June 18, President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan received Natalia Kiselova, Speaker of the National Assembly of Bulgaria, in a meeting highlighted on the official website of the Azerbaijani presidency.
During the meeting, President Aliyev described Azerbaijani-Bulgarian relations as strategic and emphasised the crucial role of mutual visits and joint projects in further expanding bilateral cooperation, Caliber.Az reports.
He highlighted the high level of political relations between the two countries and expressed satisfaction with the active cooperation in the energy sector. President Aliyev also underscored the significance of Speaker Kiselova’s participation in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) meeting held in Baku, expressing hope that her visit would be productive and create favourable opportunities to discuss issues on the bilateral agenda.
In turn, Natalia Kiselova recalled the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s support for the restoration of the Trapezitsa museum reserve in the Bulgarian city of Veliko Tarnovo. She noted that the project had been highly appreciated by the Bulgarian people and expressed gratitude to Mehriban Aliyeva, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, for her role in implementing this important cultural initiative.
The discussion also focused on the importance of the BSEC Parliamentary Assembly meeting in Baku and its role in strengthening cooperation among the parliaments of the member countries. It was noted that the chairmanship of the assembly had recently been transferred from Azerbaijan to Bulgaria, and Azerbaijan’s effective leadership during its chairmanship was highly appreciated.
Additionally, the meeting highlighted the successful cooperation and mutual support between Azerbaijan and Bulgaria within various international organisations. Both sides noted the broad prospects for further enhancing ties in trade and the economic sphere, particularly in the energy sector, including renewable energy development.
