Azerbaijani leader receives official welcome in Tashkent, Uzbekistan PHOTO / UPDATED

On August 23, an official welcome ceremony was held for President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev at the Kuksaroy State Residence in Tashkent.

A guard of honor was lined up for the Azerbaijani leader in a square decorated with the national flags of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, Caliber.Az reports, per state media.

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev welcomed his Azerbaijani counterpart, after which the national anthems of the two countries were played.

The chief of the guard of honor then reported to the President of Azerbaijan, and the two leaders inspected the ceremonial formation.

Uzbekistan’s state and government officials were presented to the Azerbaijani President, while members of Azerbaijan’s delegation were introduced to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The guard of honor subsequently marched past the two leaders to a military march, before the Presidents posed for joint photographs.
