Azerbaijani ambassador to France silences Armenian side
At OECD event in Paris
POLITICS 06 December 2022 - 15:43
Azerbaijani Ambassador to France Leyla Abdullayeva has taken part in the "Friends of Eurasia" event organized by the Eurasian Department at the headquarters of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris.
While speaking at the event, OECD Deputy Secretary-General Kerri-Ann Jones, as well as representatives of the corresponding divisions of the organization, reported about the great impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war on the economies of all countries, and also the predicted negative factors that will affect world economic development in the coming years, Caliber.Az reports citing Azertag.
Abdullayeva spoke about the assistance rendered by Azerbaijan to Ukraine from the first days of the war.
She stressed that Azerbaijan was among the first countries which sent humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
“Proceeding from the principles of humanism, SOCAR Energy Ukraine company operating in Ukraine provided ambulances and fire engines with gasoline free of charge,” the ambassador said.
The diplomat stressed that Azerbaijan, as a country that has suffered from the violation of its territorial integrity for many years, has always been guided by the principle of supporting the territorial integrity of other countries.
Abdullayeva noted that, despite the current geopolitical and geo-economic difficulties, positive changes are observed in the Azerbaijani economy in the second half of 2022.
She noted that economic growth was observed, in particular, in the non-oil sector - 7.8%, and in the transport sector - 27.2% over the last six months of this year.
Abdullayeva also commented on the speech of the Armenian side at the meeting, full of lies and unfair accusations, and informed the participants of the meeting about the realities in the region.
The ambassador noted that the Azerbaijani territories were under Armenian occupation for almost 30 years, and in autumn 2020, Azerbaijan restored its territorial integrity, and the conflict was ended by signing a tripartite statement.
She noted that Armenia does not fulfill the obligations assumed in this statement, and the statements made by the Armenian representative at this meeting are completely false.
“A single territorial unit of Armenia is not under occupation. However, eight Azerbaijani villages are still under Armenia’s occupation. Azerbaijan stands for the normalization of relations with Armenia after the restoration of its territorial integrity and hopes that Yerevan will fulfill its obligations and take the corresponding steps soon,” the diplomat added.
Abdullayeva also informed the participants about the large-scale reconstruction and restoration work being carried out by Azerbaijan in the territories liberated from occupation.
