UN circulates Western Azerbaijan Community’s appeal as official document

The United Nations (UN) Secretariat has circulated the appeal by the Western Azerbaijan Community to the international community as an official document of the UN Security Council, the General Assembly, and the Economic and Social Council.

The appeal, which was spread in all the official languages of the UN (English, French, Russian, Chinese, Arabic, and Spanish), covers the clauses of the mentioned bodies regarding the prevention of armed conflicts, peacebuilding, protection of refugees' rights, elimination of racial discrimination, promoting of human rights, genocide, and stopping ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanity, APA reports.

The community considers disseminating the appeal to be a great success in bringing the issue of the rights of Azerbaijanis expelled from Armenia to the international level.

"Connecting the issue with the mentioned clauses of the agenda of the UN's most authoritative bodies is the manifestation that the return of Azerbaijanis to their homes is necessary for the protection of basic human rights, the establishment of international peace, security and cooperation in the international level. This success further inspires our society to continue its efforts for a peaceful, safe, and worthy return. The Western Azerbaijan Community expresses gratitude to the UN Secretariat for creating conditions for disseminating this appeal,” the Community responded.
