Azerbaijani army positions come under fire 19 times

    POLITICS  30 May 2023 - 10:21

From 19:00 on May 29 to 03:55 on May 30, the Azerbaijani army's positions were shelled continuously 19 times.

The Azerbaijani army positions located in the directions of Tovuz district’s Asrik Jirdakhan and Alibayli villages and the Kalbajar district’s Damirchidam and Istisu villages came under fire four times from small arms from the positions of the Armenian Armed Forces units located in the directions of the Tovuzgala district’s Istisu, Chinarli and Aygepar villages and the Basarkechar district’s Zarkand village, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Defence Ministry press service.

Another 15 times, members of illegal Armenian armed formations shelled our army positions in the Aghdam, Shusha, and Kalbajar districts on the territory of Azerbaijan, where Russian peacekeepers are temporarily stationed.

Our units have taken adequate response measures, the ministry reports.

The Azerbaijani positions in the direction of the Aghdam district were also shelled by illegal Armenian armed formations on May 28.

The new escalation takes place after the Azerbaijani, Armenian and Russian leaders' trilateral meeting in Moscow on May 25.

As part of his visit to Lachin on May 28, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev sent some messages to revanchist separatists on its internationally-recognised territory Karabakh.

“I am telling them [Armenians] again from here, from the land of Lachin which they had been exploiting for many years and were engaged in illegal settlement, that their book is closed. The book 'Miatsum [unification of Karabakh and Armenia]' is closed, the book of separatism is closed. The dream of independence follows the path of the status. As for the status, we sent it to where it belongs during the second Karabakh war. Therefore, there is only one option left – to obey the laws of Azerbaijan, be a loyal and normal citizen of Azerbaijan, throw the false state attributes in the trash, and dissolve the 'parliament' – as if there is a 'parliament', as if there is a president, as if there is a minister, all this is funny. We are simply being patient. However, everyone knows perfectly well that we have all the opportunities to carry out any operation in that region today. Therefore, the 'parliament' should be dissolved, the element calling himself 'president' should surrender, all 'ministers', 'deputies' and others should give up their positions,” he said.
