Armenia, Czech Republic to set up working group on military-technical cooperation

Yerevan and Prague will establish a working group on military-technical cooperation under the Armenian-Czech intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation.

The Armenian Deputy Defence Minister Arman Sargsyan stated this at the session of the Standing Committee on Defence and Security Issues, Caliber.Az reports quoting Armenian media.

On June 7, the committee is discussing a draft ratification of the interstate agreement on military-technical cooperation between Armenia and the Czech Republic, which was approved by the Cabinet of the Republic back in March 2023.

Sargsyan noted that the agreement itself includes a number of areas of bilateral cooperation in the military-technical sphere. It relates to production, import and export, licensing, quality assurance of military goods, as well as training of specialists and technical personnel, assistance to military-industrial complex enterprises and exchange of information.

The deputy minister explained that the group on military-technical cooperation will deal with meetings, the definition of rules and procedures.

He also noted that the agreement is "fully in line with the strategic interests of the Republic of Armenia".

Sargsyan said that the Constitutional Court has approved the agreement.

It was signed in April 2019 and will take effect after passing national procedures in both countries. The Czech Republic notified Armenia of completing its national procedures of approval back in May 2019.
