POLITICS 26 April 2024 - 17:26
The programme of the sixth World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue dedicated to “Dialogue for Peace and Global Security: Cooperation and Interconnectivity”, which will be held in Baku on May 1-3, has been announced.
The head of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration approved the Action Plan upon President Aliyev’s instructions, the Azerbaijani Culture Ministry told Report.
The main goal of the forum is to strengthen the role of the Baku Process as an important international platform for promoting intercultural cooperation and dialogue.
The forum will be held in partnership with the United Nations Alliance of Civilisations (UNAOC), the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ICESCO), the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) and the UN World Tourism Organisation.
The forum, which will last three days, will include 12 panel discussions and four plenary sessions. Topics for discussion include the issues related to education, youth, preservation of cultural heritage, xenophobia, climate change, illegal migration, etc.
A plenary session “Building trust through interreligious dialogue” with more than 100 religious leaders from several countries is also planned to be held within the forum.
The forum participants are expected to visit the territories liberated from occupation and hold two special panel sessions in Aghdam and Shusha.
The foundation of the forum, which is an integral part of the “Baku Process” on intercultural dialogue, initiated by President Aliyev in 2008, was laid in 2011. The Ministry of Culture was designated as the coordinating body of the forum upon the president’s corresponding order (dated May 27, 2011).
