Envoy: Romania promotes energy supplies from Caucasus to Europe via Black Sea
POLITICS 11 June 2023 - 11:29
Romanian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Vasile Soare has said that all efforts will be combined to promote and implement the idea of energy supplies from the Caucasus to Europe through the Black Sea.
He made the remarks at the European City event in Lankaran, APA reports.
“I believe that the project of energy supplies through the Black Sea is real. Naturally, financial resources are needed for its implementation. As you know, we also invited the European Commission.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen attended the ceremony of signing the agreement on this project in Bucharest between the four countries. We can say that they also gave their blessing to this project,” the ambassador said.
According to him, the European market will need energy in the future as well.
“They will consume green energy. Azerbaijan and Romania provide this opportunity. That is, Azerbaijan provides energy, and my country provides a corridor for transporting this energy,” Soare said.
Azerbaijan and Romania are cooperating in various spheres of the economy. SOCAR operates in Romania through SOCAR Petroleum SA, established in 2011, and owns SOCAR-branded petrol stations in 26 regions of Romania.
On February 3, a contract was signed in Baku between SOCAR and Romgaz on the supply of up to 1 billion cubic metres of gas from Azerbaijan to Romania.
