Azerbaijan hands over 4 detained Kyrgyz citizens to their home country

Four citizens of Kyrgyzstan who were detained in Azerbaijan have been handed over to authorities in their home country.

The transfer of the individuals was confirmed by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan, as reported by Caliber.Az.

According to the statement released by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the handover followed a request from law enforcement agencies in Kyrgyzstan, indicating a mutual effort to address the situation.

"The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Azerbaijan Republic, in cooperation with the relevant law enforcement agencies of the Kyrgyz Republic, provided the opposite party with the collected information about the mentioned persons," the ministry stated.

Further details provided by the Azerbaijani authorities shed light on the circumstances surrounding the detention of the Kyrgyz citizens. According to the statement, the transfer was initiated after investigations revealed suspicions of connections between the individuals and five Azerbaijanis detained in Kyrgyzstan as suspects.

"As a result of the investigation, it was established that one of the detainees had previously been convicted of a crime on the territory of the Russian Federation, and the other - in the Republic of Azerbaijan," the statement added.

Acknowledging the ongoing cooperation between the two nations, the Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasized that joint efforts are underway to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter. The statement concluded with an assurance of continued collaboration with Kyrgyz authorities to address the issue comprehensively.
