MP: Russia hampers Armenia to reach peace agreement with Azerbaijan

Armenian MP from the ruling party Gagik Melkonyan has said that Armenia needs real allies.

“When Iran bombed Israel, Armenia noticed that the US and the UK did not leave their ally alone and all the missiles were intercepted. Only a few rockets fell into Israeli territory. Here Armenia understands what an ally is. Russia must understand that a real ally will not leave an ally alone, but Armenia was left," Melkonyan told the Armenian media, Caliber.Az reports.

“When we started looking for an alternative and wanted to get closer to Europe, Spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said that Armenia will be destroyed, look at the US and Europe, they leave alone those with whom they are friends,” he noted.

“Now, dear Maria Zakharova, look at Israel, this country is an ally of the US and the UK, look how they support their allies even though they have differences. These are real allies. We also need such an ally. Armenia and Azerbaijan will not resolve problems due to our ally, because Russia hampers a peace treaty to maintain its activity here,” the MP said.
