EU spies should be sent to Israel to shoot down Iranian missiles
    Unconventional proposal by Armenian pundit

    REGION  16 April 2024 - 12:29

Doctor of Political Sciences at the US Stanford University Arthur Khachikian has suggested that the European Union (EU) spies should be sent to Israel to shoot down Iranian missiles.

Khachikian's remarks, made in an interview with Armenian media and reported by Caliber.Az, reflect his frustration with what he perceives as a lack of competent government and diplomacy.

"This would be possible if we had a competent government and diplomacy, unfortunately, we don't have that, we lose every time," Khachikian lamented, referencing recent developments in negotiations with the EU. He expressed disappointment over what he described as a "big defeat" for Armenia in Brussels, where he claims no security guarantees were provided despite years of promises.

Khachikian's comments came in the context of discussing Armenia's potential response to sudden escalations in the Middle East, highlighting the absence of security assurances, alliance promises, NATO membership prospects, or discussions on visa regimes.

"No security guarantees, no alliance, no NATO, no membership in Europe in the future, there was not even talk about a visa regime, the Karabakh issue was closed. Look how many issues we were deceived in, it is a terrible defeat," Khachikian stated, expressing frustration with the outcome of negotiations.

In a pointed critique of the Armenian authorities, Khachikian accused them of capitulation and failure to secure substantial support from the West. He suggested that the West had not offered tangible assistance, alleging that Armenia was left with only "notebooks and binoculars."

"They (Armenian authorities) went to another capitulation, they realized that they failed, and the West did not give anything real, and many analysts of the West say: do not tear up your relations with Russia, because we will not replace Russia," Khachikian remarked.

Concluding his interview, Khachikian proposed the seemingly improbable solution of sending EU observers to Israel equipped with "notebooks and binoculars" to shoot down Iranian missiles.
