Kremlin urges continued Baku-Yerevan contacts for prompt peace treaty signing

The Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has expressed Russia’s support for ongoing dialogue between Azerbaijan and Armenia in pursuit of a comprehensive resolution to their disputes, with the aim of swiftly signing a peace treaty.

"We are in favor of continuing contacts between Baku and Yerevan. We believe that they are necessary for general détente and for the final settlement of all disputed issues on the agenda in order to come to the signing of a peace treaty as soon as possible," Peskov affirmed, TASS reports.

Meanwhile, on talks with Ukraine, Peskov reiterated that Moscow sees no grounds for negotiations with Kyiv, underlining the continuation of hostilities in the region.

According to Peskov, the absence of prerequisites for negotiations stems from Ukraine's steadfast refusal to engage in dialogue. He emphasized that Ukraine's position of rejecting any negotiations is well-known and understood by all parties involved.

"In the current circumstances, there are no preconditions for negotiations. Everyone is aware of Ukraine's stance, which categorically rejects any dialogue," Peskov remarked.
