In a move to bolster global cooperation and inclusivity in addressing pressing environmental issues, Azerbaijan has taken proactive steps by extending invitations to key nations for the upcoming Conference of the Parties (COP29).
The invitations, personally addressed by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, were delivered by Azerbaijan's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Yashar Aliyev, to his esteemed counterparts at the UN headquarters in New York, Report informs.
Amidst fervent preparations for COP29, the invitations were extended to leaders of several countries, including El Salvador, Libya, Micronesia, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Palau, Senegal, Seychelles, Syria, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, and Venezuela. This initiative underscores Azerbaijan's commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive dialogue on climate action, recognizing the importance of global collaboration in tackling the challenges posed by climate change.
The press service of the Azerbaijani Permanent Mission highlighted the significance of these invitations, emphasizing the ongoing efforts to ensure comprehensive representation and engagement at COP29. By reaching out to a broad spectrum of nations, Azerbaijan aims to facilitate constructive discussions and collective decision-making processes aimed at mitigating the impacts of climate change and advancing sustainable development goals.
