UN official praises Azerbaijan's commitment to SDGs

In a panel discussion at the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Dialogue in Baku, Riccardo Mesiano, Sustainable Development Advisor to the Office of the Executive Secretary of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, underscored Azerbaijan's commendable efforts in addressing the SDGs.

Mesiano emphasized the pivotal role of government responsibility and societal mobilization in achieving positive outcomes in SDG implementation, Caliber.Az reports.

Mesiano stressed the importance of comprehensive data collection, analysis, and problem identification as foundational steps toward successful SDG realization. He noted that countries like Azerbaijan, where the government actively engages with the SDGs, often witness favorable results. Mesiano highlighted the necessity for the entire society to be mobilized and actively involved in SDG implementation, suggesting that collective efforts are essential for sustainable progress.

"Azerbaijan serves as a prime example of how government commitment and societal engagement can drive tangible progress towards the SDGs," Mesiano remarked during the discussion. He emphasized the need for collaborative action based on the principles of information gathering, analysis, and collective mobilization to effectively address the challenges outlined by the SDGs.
