Turkish military base in Iraq hit by drones

A Turkish military base in northeast Iraq was subjected to a drone attack.

The incident took place on May 22, TASS reports, citing the Al-Hadath TV channel.

According to the unnamed sources of the TV station in the Iraqi security forces, the attack was made on the Zlikan camp, located in the Bashik region near the city of Mosul (the administrative centre of the province of Ninewa). Two drones loaded with explosives have been deployed to commit the attack. The culprits are unknown. The drone attack was the first of its kind against the Turkish forces stationed in Iraq.

A month ago, six rockets were fired at the same base. Two days later, another Turkish base in Iraq was attacked, located near the village of El-Amadia, 15 kilometres from the border with Turkey. It was then reported that the shells hit military equipment with no casualties being reported.
