Azerbaijani MP urges Russian peacekeepers to explain US Armenians' unsanctioned Karabakh visit

An Azerbaijani MP has urged Russian peacekeepers temporarily stationed on Azerbaijani territories to explain the visit of members of the US-based radical Armenian diaspora group to Karabakh, which has not been sanctioned by Baku.

"Media reports that members of the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) visited the territory of Azerbaijan, where the Russian military contingent is temporarily stationed. This visit is illegal. ANCA is a notorious sponsor of military [Armenian] separatism. Russian peacekeepers must explain how it happened," Azerbaijani MP from the ruling New Azerbaijan Party, Nigar Arpadarai, wrote on Twitter on July 3.

Meanwhile, international relations expert Azar Mammadli described it as open disrespect for Azerbaijan.

"This is an open disrespect to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan by Russia's peacekeeping contingent temporarily stationed in Karabakh and contrary to the Declaration on Allied Interaction signed by the presidents of the two countries on February 22, 2022," he tweeted.

ANCA, the US branch of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF, also known as Dashnaktsutyun or simply Dashnak) usually incites hatred toward Azerbaijan and Türkiye to gain political and financial support.

It is worth noting that the most toxic diaspora, ANCA, with a pro-Nazi past, has supported and promoted Armenia's war crimes, occupation, and ethnic cleansing of Azerbaijan's lands for decades, advocating against peace in Karabakh.

Under the trilateral ceasefire agreement signed by Baku, Moscow, and Yerevan on November 10, 2020, approximately 2,000 Russian peacekeepers were stationed in Karabakh for five years. The agreement required Armenia to withdraw all of its troops from Azerbaijani territory that it had occupied since the early 1990s.

The trilateral ceasefire agreement signed on November 10, 2020, by Azerbaijani, Russian, and Armenian leaders ended the three-decade conflict over Azerbaijan's Karabakh region, which, along with seven adjacent districts, came under the occupation of Armenian armed forces during the war in the early 1990s.
