Yerevan’s former resident: Armenians turned Tepebashi quarter into ruins

    POLITICS  05 July 2022 - 16:28

Chairman of the public association "Scientific Research", a former resident of Yerevan Telman Gasimov has said that the Armenians have turned the Tepebashi quarter into ruins.

Gasimov made the statement at the presentation of the book "The fate of the Tepebashi quarter - the last example of the Azerbaijani national cultural and historical heritage in Iravan: the destruction of the heritage of the Azerbaijani people in Armenia and the destruction of historical traces" in Baku on July 5.

“The Tepebashi quarter, considered the heart of Yerevan, is located in the eastern part of the city, on a hill. This quarter has been considered one of the historical places of Yerevan for centuries, this place is a kind of open-air museum”, Report quotes Gasimov as saying.

He noted that the Azerbaijanis who once lived here created a peculiar image of Tepebashi.

“Prominent personalities, artists, and wealthy people who owned land and property lived in this quarter. I remember how people got together, drank tea, talked, and prayed together in mosques. And today, instead of preserving the national patterns of the Tepebashi quarter, the Armenians have turned it into ruins,” he said.

Gasimov noted that the world community, including UNESCO, should not remain indifferent to these destructions.
