Azerbaijani president views progress of construction on Ahmadbayli-Fuzuli-Shusha highway

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva visited the liberated city of Shusha on May 8.

The head of state and the First Lady examined the progress of work at the 66th-81st kilometre section of the Ahmadbayli-Fuzuli-Shusha highway, Azertag reports.

Chairman of the Board of the State Agency of Azerbaijan Automobile Roads Saleh Mammadov informed the head of state about the progress of work.

The construction of the 81.7 km-long Ahmadbayli-Fuzuli-Shusha highway, which begins at the M6 Hajigabul-Horadiz-Aghband-Zangezur corridor highway and links liberated Fuzuli, Khojavand, Khojaly and Shusha districts, continues in line with international highway standards. 85 per cent of the works at the 66th-81st kilometre section of the four-lane motorway have been completed.

Under the project, the major parts of the construction of five viaducts, six tunnels and a bridge have been completed in this part of the highway.

The head of state and the First Lady watched a video highlighting the progress of work.

The construction of the Ahmadbayli-Fuzuli-Shusha highway is planned to be completed in 2024.

Moreover, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attended the inauguration of the Zarislichay pumping station in the village of Dashalti.

Chairman of the Azerbaijan Water Reserves Agency Zaur Mikayilov informed the head of state of the drinking water supply, sewage and storm drainage systems of the city of Shusha.

The head of state launched the pumping station.

The water supply, sewage and storm drainage system reconstruction project in the city of Shusha is set to meet the needs of 25,000 people given the prospective development until 2040.

Under the project, the city’s average daily water usage makes up 105 litres per a second. The city will be supplied with water from existing Kichik-Kirs, Zarisli sources and Zarisli water reservoir. The 8,000 cubic meters water purification facility will be built. 3 water reservoirs with the total capacity of 6,000 cm have been designed with the construction of one of them already in progress.

The project provides for the construction of the 24 km main water supply lines, 44 km drinking, 42 km wastewater and 41 km storm drainage networks in the city of Shusha. The new infrastructure management will be based on the Smart Water system. The SCADA system will be used in the water resources management.
