Death toll exceeds 45,800 in Gaza following Israeli attacks

06 January 2025 21:08

Gaza's Health Ministry has announced that at least 48 more Palestinians lost their lives in continued Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip, raising the total death toll to 45,854 since October 2023.

The ministry further stated that approximately 109,139 people have been injured in the ongoing violence, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.

In the past 24 hours, Israeli forces carried out three family massacres, resulting in 48 deaths and 75 injuries. Numerous people remain trapped under debris or stranded on the roads as rescue teams are unable to reach them.

Tensions flared up again in the Middle East on October 7, 2023 after militants from the Gaza Strip-based radical Palestinian group Hamas launched a surprise incursion on Israeli territory, killing many Israeli kibbutz residents living near the Gaza border and abducting more than 240 Israelis, including women, children and the elderly. Israel declared a total blockade of the Gaza Strip and launched bombardments of the enclave and some areas in Lebanon and Syria, as well as a ground operation against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Clashes are also reported in the West Bank.
